STRUCK BY A CAR

Man, 75, Injured in Accident in Independence

Frank Morris, 75, of 1400 West Waldo Avenue, Independence, was injured yesterday when he was struck by a car near the intersection of Winner and Truman roads in Independence.
He was taken to Independence hospital suffering a fractured pelvis. His condition was listed as fair.
Larry Dean McEnroe, 17, of 9723 East Thirteenth Street, Independence, driver of the car, told police he was traveling south on Winner when Morris stepped from a bus zone on the west side of the street into the path of the car. He was charged with careless driving. [end of article]

According to M. K. Morris, Sr., in Feb., 1997, Frank Morris lived to be about 85 years old. In fact, all information about Frank Morris and his children contained herein was obtained through several interviews with M. K. Morris, Sr., from 1997 to April, 1998.
It is believed that Frank Morris was married twice, had 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

OBITUARY:
Frank B. Morris
Frank B. Morris, 85, of 1500 South Brookside, Independence, died Sunday at a home at 1400 North River, Independence. He was born in Monmouth, Ill., and had lived here 40 years. Mr. Morris was a retired painter for the Hotel President. He was a member of the Maywood Baptist church. Surviving are four sons, V. F. Morris, Pearland, Tex.; Clarence C. Morris, 610 North Main, Independence; William E. Morris, Los Angeles, and R. Marion Morris, Houston, Tex; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Green of the home; a sister, Mrs. Maude Martin, Pampa, Tex.; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 3 o'clock Wednesday at Floral Hills chapel; burial in Floral Hills cemetery. Friends may call after 7 o'clock tonight at the chapel. [End]

Keith Morris talked to both Virgil and Marion Morris on the telephone on May 7, 1998. These calls confirmed that Frank B. Morris had lived and worked in Independence, MO for most of his life. He had several skills including painting and carpentry. At times, Frank had worked in Montana and Wyoming.
His last job was at the Hotel President. Frank had a first wife, but absolutely nothing is known about her, or whether the marriage was dissolved by death or divorce. It is believed that no children resulted from this marriage.
