Mary Catherine (Morris) Armstrong
OBITUARY:
ARMSTRONG--At her home near Randolph, Iowa, Dec. 5, 1892, of cancer,
Mary C. Armstrong.
Mrs. Armstrong was born April 6, 1846, in Warren Co., IL. Her
father and mother, Mr. [Capt.] and Mrs. Wm. Morris, were old settlers
well known in the neighborhood of Belmont, Henderson county. Mrs.
A. was united in marriage to Levi W. Armstrong on Feb 8th, 1866,
at Sunbeam, IL. They lived in the Belmont neighborhood until the
latter part of 1869, when they moved to Iowa. She was the mother
of eight children, six boys and two girls. They all survive her
except one, the youngest child, who died May 20th, 1889. She has
two brothers living in Illinois; Wm. M. Morris lives on the old
home farm and D. R. Morris is in business in Little York. Mrs.
Armstrong has suffered over a year. She had seven surgical operations
performed at different times, but the last one did not heal and
continued to grow worse until about three weeks ago when homorrhage
set in and finally blood poisoning was the direct cause of death.
She suffered intensely most of the time but died very peacefully
and without the least pain seemingly. She was respected by all
who ever became acquainted with her. [end]
