"Captain" William R. Morris & Eve Ann (Carpenter) Morris

Belmont Cemetery

This home was originally a log cabin built by William Morris, c. 1853. The right wing was the cabin. So obviously, each succeeding generation has made vast improvements. The original roof was rotated 90 degrees. The main entrance used to be on the right side, and had a porch-like overhang. The farm has been designated a Centennial Farm by the State of Illinois--it has been in the same family for over 100 years.
